Turkle Interview

November 18th, 2003 · No Comments

I have enjoyed reading materials published by and about Sherry Turkle since her book Life on the Screen: Identity in the Age of the Internet (Simon and Schuster, November 1995; Touchstone paperback, 1997). Here is a recent interview withTurkle. Sample text:

I’ve experimented with being a man and saw how people responded to me differently. I found it quite a fascinating exercise. One of the things that a lot of women notice in virtual communities is that if you’re a man, people stop offering to help youóespecially when there is a lot of technical stuff to do.
