“Super Exploits” to Target New Windows Holes?

April 19th, 2004 · No Comments

Mary Jo Foley reports about vulnerability rumors:

Rumors are swirling about possible “super exploits” that could target several of the Windows vulnerabilities unveiled by Microsoft last week. The Internet Storm Center at The SANS Institute have issued a warning.

Eweek sez:

The four patches were included in Microsoft’s monthly scheduled release of patches for security problems and addressed a large number of “critical” and “important” vulnerabilities. Experts, including the ISC, recommend that users patch quickly.

ISC sez:

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE PATCHES PROVIDED BY MICROSOFT IN ITS APRIL SECURITY RELEASE BE APPLIED TO SYSTEMS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. It is our belief that the likelihood of a worm being released SOON that exploits one of the vulnerabilities addressed by these patches is VERY HIGH.
