Ok. Here’s what has been happening. I have been planning to move from the Manila massive vendor lock-in–Yes, Dave Winer, you left us with a classic vendor lock-in–to Wordpress for months. The hurdles have been significant. First, my Manila blog was spammed by 10s of thousands of comment spam messages. That’s something like 60,000 in a few months. Drugs, sex, and gambling. So, my Manila host vendor deleted all of my comments–ouch–and turned off all comments. In the process, 5 years of calendar data was damaged. AHHHHHHHH!
Fortunately, Erin Clerico was able to save the data get it back into the blog. However, my comments are gone forever. Not good.
Next is figuring out a way to migrate to Wordpress. This is a nasty bit of business and there is no easy way to make it work. Thanks to Pamela Dingle
we came up with a way to get around it and preserve the links and any little google-juice I have left.
It’s still going to be a few more weeks before it is all done. I will let you know how it goes.
